Security operations in organizations are becoming increasingly complex. Today’s security landscape includes a multitude of threats, from cyber-attacks to insider threats and the ever-evolving regulatory environment. Organizations have been struggling with how best to keep up with these changes while still maintaining compliance and control over their systems environments. One way that many organizations address this challenge is through change control management, which helps them maintain compliance by controlling changes made to their systems as they evolve through different phases of the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle).

What is Change Control Management?

A change control management system helps keep track of all changes made to an organization’s systems throughout the development process, from initial design and implementation through ongoing operations. It makes sure that any new features or changes are introduced safely and don’t conflict with the existing functionality of a system as it evolves over time.

The goal is to detect errors early so they can be corrected before production-level releases go out into the world where users could potentially see them. This provides additional safety by making sure that no single person has direct access to make substantive updates without first running their intended update past others for approval which also allows other stakeholders within an organization (such as security professionals).
