The pixel 3xl ashes of singularity wallpapers is a set of wallpapers which have been designed for the new Google Pixel 3 XL with HDR display. The first batch of wallpapers was unveiled back in December 2018, and continues to expand with regular additions. How do I install?
You can download the .zip file from the link below and install it directly on your phone. Alternatively, you can also follow this guide to manually install the wallpaper set. Once you have it, rest assured that you won’t lose any of your existing wallpapers as all of our wallpapers are designed to be compatible with standard Android Wallpaper APIs that most apps use.
Can I uninstall it?
Yes! You can uninstall the Pixel 3 XL HDRWallpaper by going to Settings – Wallpaper & display – Wallpaper – Choose new wallpaper – Select “android.png”
Why are the wallpapers focused on HDR? Why not have a single set of HDR Wallpapers?
The pixel 3xl ashes of singularity wallpapers were designed for the Pixel 3 XL as Google has not yet released an official set for HDR. We were also unable to find an official set for the Pixel 2 XL through Google’s own support forums, even though one was made available on their website. The first batch of these wallpapers was created back in December 2018. It is expected to grow in the future.

Here are some of the reasons we have focused on delivering HDR wallpapers for the Pixel 3 XL. It is important to note that not all phones support HDR and that support for it depends on the device manufacturer and its display. But, for sure, a lot of Android phones do indeed support HDR and it is possible to build a workable set of wallpapers in this regard. The main reason we decided to focus on Wallpaper Engine 2 HD support with HDR was because BETA-1 of Android P (Pixel launcher) used it too, which meant that creating a single set was not very practical due to the limited aspect ratio (and therefore design possibilities). Using Wallpaper Engine 2 HD helped us create a workable set of high quality wallpapers in this regard.
Pixel 3 XL camera samples We have created a series of 16 camera samples, four in each of the ISO variants. You can download them here: HDR + Natural HDR (2.1 MB) | Normal+Low light (3 MB) | Normal+Medium light (3.1 MB) | Normal+Highlighted light (3.6 MB) | True Tone+Low light (4.2 MB) | True Tone+Medium light (4.6 MB) | True Tone+Highlighted light (5.2 MB). The camera samples are not in an optimal order, since we prioritized the ones that were more likely to be used for the purpose of this article (the HDR wallpapers).
The HD wallpapers in each size The following sizes of HD wallpapers are now available for download. The sizes are in line with the size of the pixels used on a Pixel 3 XL (540 x 3096 px), and respect their aspect ratio.
What are the advantages?
Current Android Wallpaper APIs allow us to create a very flexible set of wallpapers which can be used on any Android device. The best aspect of using Wallpaper Engine is that you can use it to create a variety of quality wallpapers for any Android phone or tablet, and then switch between them. It means you only need to download one set of wallpapers and can then use them everywhere. Because the pixel 3 XL HDRWallpaper uses Direct HD Wallpaper Rendering, it will look great on any phone or tablet. This type of rendering is currently not supported by many other wallpaper apps. As an example, the sample images below were taken from a Google Pixel 2 XL (with HDR display) with official Google wallpapers and the pixel 3xl ashes of singularity HDRWallpaper on top.
Why do we create these wallpapers?
We created this set to meet our own needs, but since we were unable to find any such sets, we thought we would share them with everyone. The original version was released in December 2018 and included 10 wallpapers. You can download them below: Pixel 3 XL HD (1080 x 2160 px) | Pixel 3 XL QHD (1440 x 2880 px) | Pixel 3 XL WQHD (1440 x 2560 px). Are there any disadvantages?
Creating the pixel 3 XL HDRWallpaper was very quick, but it had a couple of disadvantages (see the list below).
Does pixel 3xl ashes of singularity wallpapers work on all phones?
Yes. The pixel 3XL HDRWallpaper is designed to work on all phones with/without any modifications. It supports Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile versions, but for other platforms, you will need to use a third party tool and follow this guide.
