Who is Mithun Chakraborty?
Mithun Chakraborty is an Indian actor, who mostly appears in Bollywood films. He has acted in 90 movies and directed 12 productions. He also hosts a TV show called Dus Ka Dum on Colors TV. Along with being one of the prominent actors of Indian cinema, he is a member of the Film and Television Institute of India’s Board of Governors. Since 2005 he has been involved in the production and direction of several Bollywood films like “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na”, “Kabul Express”, “Awarapan” etc. Mithun Chakraborty upcoming movie : Projapoti Movie is directed by Satyajit Ray’s son Sandip Ray and Mithun will be playing the role of a professor in this movie.
He was born in Kolkata. His father was an army officer who died when he was four. From his family there were two brothers- actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty and author Arundhati Ray. Arundhati Ray is married to the writer Jibanananda Das, with whom she has five children, including Dharmashri Dugar and Madhusree Chakraborty.

1. He Dated Bollywood Actress Tina Munim :
Tina Munim was the most beautiful actress of the 80’s but now it seems she has gone old. Mithun and Tina were boyfriend and girlfriend but Mithun had left her because he thought that she was seeing someone else at that time. After that they met each other again on the set of the movie “Aa Gale Lag Jaa”, and Mithun proposed to marry her. But then again they parted ways. After the second break up, Tina Munim married another actor Jeetendra and they have two daughters. But their marriage was destroyed due to some problems and now both have split.
2. He Was Arrested For Drug Dealing :
It was in the year 1996, when he was arrested by the Maharashtra police for drug trafficking. He was sent to prison for 14 months. Later he came out of jail and after that he never took any kind of illegal drugs. He later said that it was a bad phase of his life and now he is very happy living this life. According to some people those days Mithun used to take drugs because he wanted to forget something from the past.
3. He was expelled from FTII :
He was expelled from the Film and Television Institute of India for his political activities in 2012. But after that it is said that he had gone on a hunger strike against the decision of FTII Board of Governors, which had been taken to expel him from the institute.
It was also said that Mithun Chakraborty has been expelled because he wanted to join Bollywood and not because of any political activity. Later on he said in a statement that “It was an unfair decision taken by the board, which has damaged my professional reputation”. According to him they have not explained as to why they have made this decision, as they have only passed a vague reason.
4. Reason Behind Drug Dealing :
After his father’s death, he was responsible for the whole family. Mithun Chakraborty was very close to his mother and did not want them to spend money on him, so he started doing illegal things in order to support himself and the family. At that time he got in a serious relationship with a woman named Tina Munim.
But after some time she got married to another actor Jeetendra with whom she has two daughters now. So Mithun had planned many times to go to their house, but he never did it. But later Mithun Chakraborty revealed that he had felt bad after he broke off from Tina Munim and now he is very happy because he is happily married to his wife and they have two daughters.
5. Marriage :
Mithun Chakraborty married Sushmita Biswas on 11 June 2009 in Kanpur. They have a daughter named Ekta (born July 9, 2010). In an interview the day of their marriage, Mithun said that his wife was very beautiful and he fell in love with her when he first saw her. The couple took their daughter’s name Ekta.
In November 2009, they released their first photo as a married couple, but after some days they deleted it because normally they take nude pictures as a couple but this time they had decided to avoid it. Recently in an interview Mithun has revealed that now he looks forward to taking a photo with his wife in public places so that people can have a clear picture of them.
6. Relationship with Sushmita Biswas :
Mithun Chakraborty and his wife Sushmita Biswas were neighbors and friends for many years. They started dating each other in a short time and had a romantic relationship for about two years. They married on 11 June 2009. Their marriage was arranged by Mithun’s parents, who were very happy about their son’s wedding; he even said, “Deeply rooted in society, my parents had wanted me to get married but I didn’t want them to make the decision because an arranged marriage affects the personal freedom of both partners”.
