Most people would like to make decisions that are based on the best available evidence. But often, we find it difficult to do so. Why is that? Blame your brain. The human mind is hardwired to make decisions on the basis of what feels right, rather than waiting for proof that one option is demonstrably better or worse than another.

Even when we want to be rational and logical about a decision, it’s easy to just follow our gut instinct instead in order to avoid feeling uncertainty or regret later on. And even when we do have evidence, there are many ways in which people can think themselves into rejecting the facts if they don’t happen to like them!
