What would you do if your world was turned upside down? Who would you become if everything you knew was taken away from you? How far will you go to reclaim what’s yours?
These questions can be answered by a new band on the scene- Delain. Delain is a Dutch symphonic metal band with an interesting twist: they’re all women. As of now, only one male member has been added to their team- however, he doesn’t play any instruments and his sole purpose seems to be filling in for female vocalists when needed. This group of talented musicians formed in 2001 with the goal of “putting a new twist on female fronted metal.”
They’ve achieved this by adding many different instruments to their music- including strings, keys and drums. Delain’s first album The Human Contradiction was released in 2007 and they have been hard at work ever since creating more albums (including one that went platinum) as well as collaborating with other artists like Within Temptation, Simone Simons of Epica, Devin Townsend among others.
