Season 3 of American Horror Story has only aired once, to much controversy. The season begins on Aug. 1 with the opening of “The Purge” episode. It’s a horror story like no other and has fans up for days with theories that may not have been fully explained or tested.

The Purge, in all its incarnations and iterations, was an excellent premise for a horror film, but the entire premise is based on one idea. The very plot of the series is centered on a man who murders his wife, and he then attempts to rid himself of his guilt by eliminating everyone who knows that he did it.

With Season 3 of American Horror Story’s first season just half over, fans are now excited to get the second one out. “You ready for the ride,” we thought, but are it any better than the first? For the uninitiated, the second season starts on Aug. 5 with the season finale, “I’m Not There” (see what we did there?).

The best version of horror story is more like The Blair Witch Project, with people with little to no connection to a plot and their bodies left feeling terror and confusion at any given moment. The new season starts on Aug. 4 and will follow the story of an actual killer named Hannibal Lecter, played by Wes Bentley. He comes into a small town in New York state and murders everyone, only sparing his most loyal soldier.

This time, instead of being scared at the thought of the man inside the mask, people are scared at the idea of him doing it alone. The real Hannibal Lecter is not a monster who is terrifying everyone, but a professional killer who, in all his incarnations, tries to find a balance in the world. He chooses to take on the dark side of humanity in order to save people from the suffering of his own.

The very first episode of American Horror Story Myths is Aug. 1, 2012, The Purge will premiere later this year for the 3rd season.
